About the Elite Force 11.1V 1200mAh Tri-panel LiPo battery
If you are using an electric gun(AEG), the battery is your lifeline right next to ammo. For your basic equipment you should start out by having high quality batteries. Most stock guns perform at a similar level so there is nothing that should be done to alter its behavior that requires opening the gun up. The best immediate thing you can do is invest in high quality batteries off the bat. Having adequate battery performance will improve how effortlessly your gun turns over each shot as well as affect your rate of fire.
This battery pack is a split cell configuration designed to work inside handguards or stock compartments found on most AEGs. The capacity is 1200mAh which should yield around a thousand or more shots on a charge on a stock gun that is functioning properly. Mah (milliamp hours) is your capacity -- think of it as your gas tank. The higher the number the more shots it can put out of your gun as well as the longer it takes to fill that gas tank (to charge). The next important thing to know is the battery type.
This is a Lithium Polymer battery (also known as LiPo for short). These are high performance batteries but do require more education and a more attentive user. If you are a beginner in airsoft or you are buying a battery for a beginner, we do not recommend this item. LiPo batteries offer great performance but are volatile and are extremely sensitive to misuse. They require special chargers to charge them. Lipos can be identified by the wires coming out of the pack. There will be two sets of wires coming out of them whereas a NiMH battery will have just one. One plug on the Lipo is only used for plugging into the gun and the other plug is strictly for charging. On a NiMh one plug is responsible for both. Do not use a NiMH charger on a LiPo battery or else it could explode. The other thing to be careful about is while using the Lipo battery itself. Shooting it til it is drained can cause permanent damage to the cells. When you are playing, when you start to notice the gun firing slower and the trigger response getting more labored, this is when you should stop using the battery. If you keep trying to use the battery beyond this point this is when you damage your cells. If you stop at this point and put the battery on a charger then this is fine and the correct way to use the battery.
High voltage Lipo batteries like 11.1v packs will put your gun into overdrive. Your rate of fire will be faster than normal and people often like it for quicker trigger response. The caveat to all this is that you are putting the same wear and tear on your gun but at a faster rate. Also if you shoot a lot your trigger contacts might burn out sooner when not protected by a MOSFET.
Q: How long do I charge the battery?
A: Lipo batteries can only be charged by a specific type of charger that is required to be a smart charger so there is no guess work on your part to charge a battery fully. There are no "dumb" chargers for Lipos. However for conventional knowledge, here is how long you would figure out to charge for a battery with a dumb charger: For any battery back and charger combo, you must figure out the capacity (mah) and the charger's output (mA). Remember the mah is how much energy is stored much like a gas tank in a car or a bucket of water. The mA will be found on the charger and is how much it charges in an hour. So if the output is 500mA it can fill up a 1000mA battery in 2 hours. Using standard chargers means you will have to be extra careful and unplug the battery when it's done. Leaving it on too long after the battery is fully charged can lead to damage or the battery exploding. The best thing to do and a cheap investment is to buy a smart charger which will not only charge your battery faster but also turn off when it is full so you do not have to worry about timing.
Q: How many batteries do you recommend for a day of play?
A: One is okay for the conservative player but two packs is usually the safe bet especially on longer days.
