Beretta is a classic brand that has been around for a very long time and their most famous model of pistol is the M9/92 series. These can be seen in the hands of the US military for the longest time as well as many other countries as well as popular in media such as video games and many action movies. Signature to the Beretta pistols is the open top slide design which ensures smoother feeding and ejection and allows for easy clearing of obstructions. The barrel design utilizes a falling locking block which is in contrast to the Browning tilting barrel design seen on most pistols and offers benefits to suppressor users in this case. The magazine release is reversible for left handed shooters.
Recent releases to Beretta's lineup are the APX and M9A3 pistols. The APX is a modern design which features a steel slide and polymer frame and is striker fired, aimed at military and law enforcement clients who are looking for an alternative to Glock pistols. The APX has aggressive serrations on the slide for easier manipulation whether you have gloves on or not or whether your hands are wet or dry. The magazine release is reversible just as it is on the M9 series pistols, and the frame features a modular backstrap system so that you can modify the grip to your liking. The gun features a refined trigger that is better than most striker fired pistols out of the box intended for duty use. A picatinny rail rounds out the handgun to allow you to mount illumination tools to your frame.
The M9A3 is the newest pistol from Beretta. It is essentially a modernized version of the classic M9 Beretta and was pitched as a potential replacement to the current US military service pistols that were solicited by the military in the Modular Handgun System trial. It features a rail, removable sights, universal slide, threaded barrel, updated controls, and overall features a nice evolution of things we liked in the original M9. Though it ultimately lost out to SIG for this particular contract, we reap the benefits of having a refined Beretta available to us ready to go.
Since the Beretta style pistols are so popular, there are many accessories and holster types available for them. Most players prefer a kydex style holster where the pistol is securely locked into place. These holsters positively lock your pistol in place. Some of them feature a button or a paddle that release the pistol when depressed. Another popular option is to use a nylon holster. Nylon holsters are popular in drop leg designs as well as vest / plate carrier mounted designs. This give you the ability to mount your pistol where you like it.
Q: I've seen the Beretta in many movies, but sometimes they call it an M9, what is the difference?
A: The M9 is the military designation of the Beretta - functionally it is essentially the same.
Q: Can I get CO2 magazines for my beretta airsoft pistol?
A: This depends on the model, some models take solely green gas and others CO2. Make sure to look at the individual pistol to determine what type of gas it can take.
