Sniper rifles and pistols that use a TM (Tokyo Marui) style barrel cut which is shared between their pistols and VSR-10 sniper rifles have the option of upgrades in many cases. Those seeking better accuracy and range should look into a bucking upgrade and changing to a tight bore barrel. Most airsoft guns come equipped with a standard bore barrel which is of a bore inner 6.05mm diamter or greater. The 6mm BBs we use in airsoft have a true diameter of 5.95mm give or take. By switching to a tight bore barrel, such as to a 6.03mm or smaller, this creates a tighter constriction for the BB to travel through. When using this type of barrel in conjunction with a high quality consistent BB, greater accuracy is produced with less deviations seen from shot to shot. The tighter constriction is less forgiving to dirty barrels and poor quality BBs so you will experience jams if you are not mindful about keeping your equipment clean and feeding it the best ammo. If you need help with building your airsoft sniper rifle we offer tech services to perform upgrades to most popular platforms.

Q: Do airsoft barrels go bad? A: Airsoft barrels should last indefinitely and should not "go bad". That said, scratches inside the barrel will grossly affect your accuracy
and performance and you should take care to not only clean the barrel but to clean it correctly. Another thing that could affect
function is a bent barrel. This is not something that happens out of a new gun however if a player should bang their gun hard into
something and tweak the barrel, that is when you might need to replace the barrel or even the hop up assembly. Q: How do I maintain my barrel? A: Cleaning the barrel and feeding it high quality ammunition is the best way to maintain your barrel and your gun's performance. Clean
your barrel with something mild such as silicone oil or something slick that cleans off easily. Avoid using very strong chemicals and
compounds when this is cleaned with a fully assembled gun, as these chemicals can damage and ruin your rubber bucking. Use cleaning
swabs, paper towels, or something similar with the plastic cleaning rod included with your airsoft gun. Do not use metal gun brushes
and rods as these will scratch up the inner barrel. Q: What diameter of barrel is best for my gun? A: There are different types available with 6.01mm and 6.03mm being the most common upgrades. As mentioned, the stock diameter is
often 6.05mm or larger. Upgrading to a 6.03mm barrel should yield better accuracy and sometimes a bump in velocity as well. Upgrading
to a 6.01mm might get you slightly more velocity on top of that though people are of split opinions on whether the accuracy goes up
further than a 6.03mm. It is generally believed that the accuracy difference between 6.01mm and 6.03mm are going to be so close it is
hard to split the difference. A 6.03mm will be more forgiving on jams and if you play outdoors, this might be a better choice for you.
A 6.01mm barrel leaves little room for error and is best used in a clean environment such as indoors. Q: My shots are curving left or right, what should I do? A: Assuming the gun is in otherwise working order, make sure the bucking and barrel is seated and aligned perfectly. A slightly off center
hop up nub or bucking, or an inner barrel that is not correctly installed could produce results such as shots curving laterally.
