About the Open Blaster Bio BBs
Action Sport Games has their own high quality line of biodegradable BBs called Open Blaster. These are not only top tier in terms of production quality but also a great value too because you get a few more rounds for the same price compared to the other brands we offer. These BBs are produced in Denmark and quality controlled at the highest standards before being brought to us.
Biodegradable BBs will break down much faster than standard airsoft BBs and are better for the environment, especially if you are playing on outdoor fields. The airsoft community has taken pride being proactive and making this the gold standard of BB to use for outdoor events. Most fields in the United States require the use of biodegradable BBs for play. There are many great brands of high quality bio BBs on the market now, and these come in a variety of weights. This gives players a solution for all types of play. Not sure what weight to pick? If you’re using a pistol that is shooting under 300 fps, you might want to consider a .20g BB. A .25g BB is great for most rifles out of the box. It has a bit more weight than the .20 to give you more stability and also the ability to penetrate foliage a bit better than a lighter weight BB. If you’re using a bolt action sniper rifle or a DMR, consider starting with .28 Bio BBs or even going all the way up to .32g. These heavier BBs will give you more consistency and accuracy making them ideal for longer range shots. Still not sure which BBs to pick? Just give us a call at the shop and we’ll be happy to help you find what you need!
Q: How long does it take for a BB to biodegrade?
A: This depends on the brand of BB as well as the environment. Many of the best brands begin to breakdown within 6 - 12 months after use.
Q: Can I lower the velocity of my gun by using a higher weight BB to make it legal at my field?
A: No. It’s important to understand that airsoft guns are measured by energy, and not simply velocity. When you see velocity limits published at fields, these are typically based on the use of a .20g BB. This has become the standard weight in which to measure velocity. If your guns is shooting past the FPS limit with a .20g BB, it is shooting beyond the required energy limits. Using a heavier weight BB would lower the velocity, but the energy of the rifle would still be above the field limits. If you still have questions, feel free to send us an email to email@example.com and we’ll be happy to help you understand the options you have available to make your gun field legal.
