Using the incorrect BBs or Gas with your airsoft guns can cause a lot of damage to your equipment or even yourself.
In regards to airsoft BBs, not all BBs are created equal. Using the incorrect type of BB in your gun will not only give you bad performance, it can cause serious damage to the internals of your airsoft gun. Low quality BBs which are typically found an big box/sporting good stores is great for use in the guns that they sell. However if you are purchasing a high quality airsoft gun from a specialty airsoft store, it's imperative that you use the correct, high quality BBs. Your precision airsoft gun will typically have a smaller inside diameter barrel which will become jammed with the lower quality BBs and cause damage to your guns gearbox/internals. The lower quality BBs are not consistent in diameter, weight, or shape. They are typically molded on a big tree like a plastic model and are not polished to a perfect sphere. The inconsistencies in their manufacturing will at best provide for an inaccurate shooting experience, at worst, it will cause a jam and potentially strip the teeth off of your piston, gears and/or motor. Picture riding a bicycle and the wheels are turning fairly fast and all of a sudden your front wheel comes to a dead stop and locks up, you can imagine the damage that would cause by having moving objects come to a abrupt halt. Using High quality BBs will be accurate and prevent the possibility of jamming. They are consistent in size, shape, and weight due to extra steps involved in manufacturing and the final polishing the BBs receive. The cost savings of a few dollars per bottle/bag of BBs of low quality BBs to high quality BBs will be immediately negated having to repair any damage caused the the low quality BBs.
Choosing the correct Gas is a little easier more straight forward then choosing BBs. If you need Green Gas, you should only purchase Airsoft Green Gas or a propane adapter and some silicone oil to keep everything lubricated. If your equipment requires CO2, only use CO2 for best performance. Do not use CO2 in something designed to only use Green Gas, the pressures are about 700 PSI higher and will cause damage to our gun or serious injury to yourself.
