What is an Airsoft Starter Kit?
What is an airsoft starter kit? Simply put, an airsoft starter kit gets you everything you need to start playing! They also can be combined to build a full loadout. Click Here to see how to combine starter kits! When we first began playing airsoft over 20 years ago, it was difficult to understand what was actually needed to get out onto the field and play. A great example of this is that many airsoft guns do not come with a battery and charger, and the ones that do are typically low quality and don't provide a great experience with the rifle. This is why we couple our rifle kits with a high quality battery and a smart charger to ensure you have a great experience. Another area that used to be confusing was the difference between BB weights and brands. Poor quality BBs will cause your rifle to malfunction and potentially introduce damage to the gun. At Fox, we only stock the best brands of BBs that we personally use, and we include a bottle in all of our starter kits to get you going. This is an area you definitely don't want to skimp on. Some kits also include options for additional recommended accessories. A great example of this are our sniper rifle kits - the 2 most common accessories are a scope and a bipod, so we put these together in order to bring you additional savings by purchasing the kit.
Your journey in airsoft usually starts with a quality rifle, but what do you do after you get you rifle? The first thing you want to do is to learn how to properly care for it. This includes charging the battery, what types of BBs to use, and how you can clean it to keep it in top notch shape. Proper care and maintenance goes a long way and will give you many years of use out of the rifle. If you're an active player putting your rifle through the paces, eventually you'll have a component that needs to be replaced. We're making this easier at Fox by providing easy access to replacement and upgrade parts for all of the rifles that we sell. You'll notice that on each starter kit page, we have 4 links / buttons that take you to all of the essential components and information that you need: Accessories, Parts, Manuals, and Maintenance.
In the accessories tab, we link our most popular accessories for the rifle you are looking at. This includes things like magazines, red dot aiming devices, scopes, attachments, flashlights and lasers. You can use this section to customize your rifle for your mission and get the best ergonomics out of using it.
In the parts tab we link to many of the common wear components on each rifle. An example might be a magazine release button or a charging handle. At some point it's possible to lose or damage these components, and a quick fix can get you back up and running in no time. If you don't see a part that you'd like for your rifle, make sure to let us know and we'll look at adding it to our inventory. This goes with our commitment to fully support all of the rifles that we sell!
The manuals tab has the OEM direct owners manual for the rifle. This way you have access to the key information on your rifle years after you first purchased it.
The maintenance section we are very proud of. This area provides a series of informational videos designed to give you information you need to maintain your rifle as well as replace and upgrade key components. Each video is designed to be directed towards a very specific topic, vs the typical all encompassing videos that are an hour long. In these videos you can search through the list of the questions you need answered click on the video and watch the relevant topic. Let's say you had your magazine release fall out and you needed to replace it. The video will walk you through step by step on how to perform the repair and the tools you'll need to make it happen.
Now that you have a great rifle and all of the information you need to maintain it, you're probably looking to expand your loadout, where should you start? The Starter Kits we offer are designed to mix and match with one another to create a full loadout. Usually the next piece of gear people get is a sidearm. Look into our pistol starter kits which give you a great pistol, plus all of the essentials to take it out to the field. A common accessory with our CO2 pistols is silicone oil. This is essential for cleaning, and also ensuring that the seals in your magazines remain adequately lubricated. Also, storing under a small bit of pressure leaves the seal seated correctly and can prolong the life. It's important that if you do this that it is stored in a cool dry area.
Once you get your pistol starter kit, the last piece is to begin building your gear loadout. We offer many gear starter kits which give you the essentials to put together a loadout in the color of your choice. When you combine all 3 starter kits, you'll have a full loadout which will give you everything you need to get out play head to head with the best players on the field. Also, if you're looking to customize further, make sure to talk to one of our expert staff members. They'll be happy to give you advice so that you can find what you need for your mission.

Questions & Answers
Q: What age do I need to be to get started in airsoft?
A: This depends on the rules of your local field, most fields around the country allow players to begin participating as young as 12 years old
Q: I saw an electric rifle on amazon for $80, why are yours more expensive?
A: We want to give you a great experience from the start, we only stock quality airsoft guns that have part and accessory support. Many of the low cost airsoft guns are referred to as "throw away guns". This is because once they are broken there is no part availability to support them. We've found from personal experience that it is better to start with a quality piece of equipment so that you can enjoy the sport
Q: What is a gear starter kit?
A: We use the term gear to refer to the additional accessories you will have on you besides your gun. This can include a tactical vest, plate carrier, holster or helmet. Gear is very important so that you can manage all of your required equipment on the field. Vests and plate carriers allow you to carry essentials such as extra magazines, water, flashlights, BBs, batteries and other items you can use.
Q: Can I use ski goggles to protect my eyes?
A: NO! Protective gear is the best investment you will make in your airsoft career. You need to have a full seal, ANZI Z87 impact rated goggle with a retention strap. We also highly recommend having face protection to protect the soft tissue around your face as well as your teeth.
