Inside your airsoft electric gun (AEG) is a gearbox (also referred to as mechbox) which contains all the crucial internal components that allow the airsoft gun to function as it does and shoot. The controls of the airsoft gun such as the safety, semi automatic, and full automatic functions are controlled by external levers that replicate what you see on the real thing, but interact with a series of gears and small levers inside the gun that tell the gearbox what it is supposed to do or not do when the trigger is pulled. Among these will be additional parts that prevent the trigger from being fully depressed when you manually select the safe mode on your fire selector. The selector parts themselves could wear out and get loose over time.
If your external selector controls feel solid but the gun does not function correctly in this regard, it may be attributed to something else going on inside the gearbox or the interaction between the external and internal selectors to the gearbox. Working to solve these types of issues usually requires a full teardown of the airsoft gun and possibly the gearbox as well. For help diagnosing and repairing airsoft guns with these types of problems we do offer tech services. When you manipulate your fire selector to safe this lever will prevent the trigger from being pulled. Located within or just outside of the gearbox may be a lever that acts as a physical stop inside the gun to prevent the trigger from moving. This lever has but one job and so long as it is moving to the correct position when the selector is set to safe, it is performing its job. Rarely would this piece wear out and allow your trigger to still be pressed, but it is not out of the realm of possibility and should be addressed if your trigger can move while on safe.

Q: How long do selector parts last?
A: They should last for a long time, but it is hard to say for how many gearbox cycles. Manipulating them more frequently or while they are loose would cause more wear
and tear on these parts and require tightening up to make sure your airsoft guns do their intended functions in each selector position. Not having a functioning safety is a
serious safety risk and should be addressed. Brand new airsoft guns should be expected to be working from the factory. If your brand new airsoft gun has a selector that
is not functioning properly (your safety does not work, full auto in semi auto mode, etc.), you should take advantage of your warranty if you purchased it with us.
Q: Do these selector parts need to be upgraded?
A: Selector parts and tolerances are often designed to work together within a given brand. Aftermarket selector parts designed for this could be sold as universal but
fitment and function always has to be checked and are often not truly "drop-in" in nature. Airsoft guns with ambidextrous controls often have their own proprietary selector
parts designed by the manufacturer, so it is best to stay within the same brands when replacing those components.
