P.E.Q. boxes (often pronounced PECK or P-E-Q) in airsoft mimic the look of real life laser devices meant for firearms. These can also be referred to as battery boxes. In airsoft there are different types and styles of PEQ boxes out there and they all do very different things. Often times to conceal an external battery back, hollowed out PEQ boxes function as hosts. This is typically found on guns with front wiring where battery space is often limited inside the handguard area. Some guns might not even have battery space in the front and already come with a hollow PEQ box from the maker. Whatever the case, people often take advantage of this by running a high performance battery that would often be too large to physically fit inside the front portions of their gun.
