Q: What magazine works for my sniper rifle?
A: First you need to know the manufacturer and the model of the sniper rifle you have. We cannot help you if you do not know. We often get questions from players who got a rifle from a friend but without any information we cannot really track down the right magazine for you. Not many sniper rifles share common magazines so this is an issue. If you are local to us, we have a better chance at finding it for you if you bring the rifle to our retail store so we can check against what we have.
Q: This rifle is compatible with X, do you have magazines for it?
A: Very few sniper rifles on the market share a common enough design to share the same magazines. It has been in our personal testing that though the parts are for the most part compatible, sometimes the magazines were an issue due to being of different specs and not the correct tolerance when trying X magazine with Y brand gun. Your mileage will vary on this one and again we say it's best to stink to the one that is known to work: the magazine of the same brand.
Q: What does VSR-10 compatible mean?
A: The VSR-10 is a model of sniper rifle originally produced by an old school Japanese airsoft manufacturer (Tokyo Marui). This rifle style has been replicated by several manufacturers both in style and function which has lead to tremendous aftermarket support. This is the most prominent form factor of sniper rifles out there in the world of airsoft making it the easiest to upgrade if you are willing to spend the money and do the research required. That being said, some straight up clones of the rifle exist that look and perform the same for a lower price, though longevity and overall fit and finish will be lacking. This is where you may come into compatibility issues with supposedly compatible magazines and aftermarket parts. If you are not prepared to deal with "making it work" then it really is best if you stick to the same brand of magazine as the rifle, regardless of if it s a VSR-10 clone or not.
Q: Why are gas sniper rifle magazines more expensive than others?
A: As with any gas gun, the magazines are always going to be an expensive part. The magazine functions as a holder for BB's as well as a reservoir for the gas to feed into the gun which means there are seals and valves inside. It should be noted that to protect your investment that gas magazines in general should be handled with care and maintained regularly. Handled with care means not dropping it on the floor and not loading it incorrectly. Proper care entails lubricating the seals and valves inside the magazine with silicone oil.
