Slings are straps used help you carry your airsoft gun around. They can be used on short guns like sub machine guns, long guns like sniper rifles, or everything in between such as carbines. Slings can be made of various materials such as nylon, canvas, or leather. They can attach via universal hardware or simply loop through preinstalled sling loops found on some airsoft guns. Slings are not a requirement to play airsoft though they do make handling a heavy airsoft gun a lot easier and should be considered a quality of life upgrade. Simple slings are designed to help carry an airsoft gun around. Some fancier options might allow multiple ways to sling your rifle or to are able to employed as a stabilizer by cinching down against your body or wrist to manipulate your body mechanics to give you a stable and secure shooting platform.
Slings are often labeled as a sling type to indicate how many points they use to attach to a gun. Your airsoft gun should have the corresponding number of attaching points though sometimes airsoft guns have more or not enough. If your airsoft gun does not have enough points, sling attachment points can be added through numerous types of sling hardware to make them compatible.

Q: What is a single point sling?
A: A single point sling attaches at a single point, often towards the rear of a gun. This is a simple method of carrying your rifle. The pros of a single point sling are its not very cumbersome with many straps to get in the way and you can always have your rifle secure without messing with your rifle and sling too much. This is very handy for short term use and CQB since you just need something to secure the rifle and you could potentially free up a hand to manipulate things around your environment. Since the rifle secures at a single point however, a big drawback is the gun dangling and hitting things (and your body) when you aren't holding it. If you need to use both of your hands for something other than holding the rifle you run the risk of snagging or bumping your rifle around. The simplicity of a single point makes transitioning your firing hands the easiest.
Q: What is a two point sling?
A: A two point sling attaches at two locations, the front and back. This can allow you to do a simple shoulder carry of your rifle and is very easy to use. You can sling the rifle over your shoulder to have it be secure if you need to do some activity such as climb. The extra strap from a two point sling might be excessive and get in the way when you don't need to sling your rifle.
Q: What is a three point sling?
A: A three point sling is a more complex sling that attaches at two points and has an additional loop of strap making the third point. This system combines the flexibility of being able to switch firing hands and also be able to fully sling the rifle when you don't want to handle the rifle. The added complexity and materials makes this a jack of all trades but a master of none.
