About the Echo1 M28:
The Echo1 M28 is one of the best value beginner airsoft sniper rifles out on the market for just under $200. The M28 gets its name from its preferred ammo type, .28g BBs. This spring powered sniper rifle comes preupgraded from the factory to shoot a whopping 500-550fps with 0.2g BBs. Most sniper rifles in the under $200 price range are barely shooting over 400fps. To get a low $100 sniper rifle up to shooting the same velocities as the M28 does stock, you could be looking at spending more than another $100 on parts or more, plus time and labor.
The M28 emulates the look of famous tactical rifles such as the bull barreled M24 SWS/M24 SOCOM sniper rifles. Starting from the outside you have an all metal action with a simulated bull barrel at the end. The stock is the military style with the adjustable length of pull and is made of dense fiber material giving it a very stout feeling. In fact this is one of the best feeling stocks for an airsoft gun in our experience. If you pick up a $100 airsoft rifle you'll know what we mean. Internally we have a VSR-10 style trigger box that is adjustable for travel and length of pull. The piston and spring guide which once were plastic have now been upgraded to metal versions on the newest generation of this rifle. This makes for an overall more durable platform out of the box compared to anything else near it in price. And with the 500+ fps the extra durability is welcome at any rate. If you should need to upgrade or repair this rifle it would not be a stretch to find what you need to get this rifle going.
While power does not equal range, power is a catalyst to extending your range on a typical airsoft gun and the M28 is already setting you up for success. As mentioned earlier, .28g BBs are a great accurate round to start with. You could go heavier with .32g or higher to take the most advantage of the power you are putting out. Stock guns respond well with a heavier BB but the travel time of your shot to target will slow down the heavier the round. With a hard hitting gun like the M28, this time will be significantly less. If you ever wanted a worthwhile upgrade, it is the barrel and bucking you should be looking at. A tight bore barrel such as a 6.03mm and the red bucking from Madbull are one of the best things you can get for this rifle.
Caution: Modifying or disassembling your airsoft gun voids your warranty. Please consult an experienced airsoft technician if you are planning to do upgrades. It is very easy to mess up the disassembly and reassembly of this product.
